Joesler Kitchen to Open on River Road in Late November

The team behind Choice Greens, Graze Premium Burgers and Truland Burgers & Greens is opening Joesler Kitchen — a 110-seat neighborhood restaurant at Joesler Village on Tucson's River Road — in late November 2026, Tucson Foodie reported October 21.

What happened

Co-owners Jeff Katz and Paolo DeFilippis are turning the former Choice Greens space at 1825 E. River Road, Suite 119, into a new full-service concept billed as "Neighborly Food and Drink." The restaurant spans about 3,500 square feet and seats roughly 110 guests across the dining room, bar, and a pet-friendly patio, with the bar offering both indoor and outdoor seating. The team is hiring now ahead of the late-November opening.

This wasn't a quick flip. Katz told Tucson Foodie the project has been in the works for about a year, with six to seven months spent on the redesign alone; FORS architecture + interiors handled design and Hidden Hollow Construction the build. The name honors Josias Joesler, the Swiss architect whose adobe-and-timber designs shaped much of Tucson's historic character — fitting for Joesler Village, one of the Catalina Foothills' landmark commercial corners at River and Campbell.

It's one of several fall moves in Tucson dining: downtown, Lucky Penny BBQ and Bonanza Coffee Co. were slated to open in mid-October on North 6th Avenue, sharing a patio on a former parking lot site. County permitting tells the same story of a busy season — Pima County Health Department records surfaced in October include Anatolia Restaurant, a Turkish concept at 5931 N. Oracle Road, and Turquoise Wine Bar at 4772 E. Sunrise Drive in the Foothills, both newly permitted and working toward opening.

Why it matters if you're moving to Tucson

Openings like this are how you read a neighborhood before you buy in it. River Road and the surrounding Catalina Foothills are Tucson's established upscale corridor, and operators don't spend a year redesigning a 110-seat restaurant there unless the local dining dollar is strong and growing. For newcomers, Joesler Village is a practical first landmark: it's minutes from the Foothills' main shopping, the Rillito River Path, and some of the area's most sought-after residential streets.

Exploring the food scene is also the fastest way to learn Tucson's geography. Start with our things to do guide and the Tucson restaurants guide, then use the neighborhood hub to match areas to the lifestyle — dining included — you actually want to live in.
